The Range Rover, a model of the Land Rover brand, was the pioneer of a new car segment that is very popular today, that of the luxurious all-terrain vehicle. With good performance on the road, but also on rough terrain, it will be declined in many versions to allow it to remain the reference in its segment. Its habitability and its ability to move around town in great comfort, as well as to cross bridges on rutted roads, are impressive. From 1970 to 1996, the "classic" version, like our example, was sold. It is on the technical level that the Range Rover will become the reference for off-roading thanks to its permanent 4 wheel drive, its advanced suspension and its torquey 3500cc V8 coupled to a 4 speed manual gearbox. The 1980 Land Rover Range Rover RR 200 offered for sale is one of the last examples built before the restyling of the model in 1980 and has a two-door body, the four-door not arriving until 12 years later.
The lot is registered in France as a collection in the name of the seller. Purchased by its current owner in March 2019, it has had 4 owners and is matching numbers with its original engine. The dash shows 29000 km, an uncertified but reliable figure, and has only covered 100 km with current owner who bought it to restore it. It has its full original tool kit, spare keys and is accompanied by numerous invoices. It has not been damaged and has been fully restored with as many original parts as possible. The owner has sought to give the vehicle a second life without taking away its authenticity: this is why he has chosen to leave various original parts, albeit with a certain patina.

The Range Rover's proportions are timeless and make it the purest incarnation of 4x4. Its high body line, prominent bonnet and black grille housing the headlamps are not just for show and allow the vehicle to be immersed in fairly deep water. The exterior colour, named Sandglow, is not a factory colour but an original colour. Paint and body work was carried out in the proper manner: the body was removed, then the body and chassis were repainted. The body was removed and the bodywork and chassis were repainted. These elements have been completely restored and show no signs of corrosion. The tinted windows are a period option. The original 16" steel wheels have been sandblasted and repainted and are fitted with new Fedima Collection 205/80/R16 tyres. An identical spare wheel is located in the boot.

The car's two-tone interior (light brown and beige), which is high up, is made of fabric and contrasts with the black plastics of the dashboard. Despite its adventurous credentials, the Range Rover is comfortable for its five occupants. The seats and rear bench are original but the seat upholstery, carpets and roof lining have been completely redone. The instruments are in working order.

The restoration carried out between July 2020 and March 2021 also included a mechanical overhaul, with the replacement of the silentblocks, fuel tank, dampers and brakes. Under the bonnet of this "Range", a complete overhaul including filter changes and fluid replacement was carried out at the end of the refurbishment in March 2021. No work was required on the transmission.
